Our upper deck, 14 steps up, was invaded by
one or more raccoons. Egg shells in my red
watering can seemed to be the attraction the
first time. After carefully extracting
all the shells from the water and chewing on some
hen and chicks, only one container was dug up.
I left a radio on overnight so there were no visitors
the next night.
Last night I forgot to turn up the radio and
found a real mess this morn. Three containers were
scattered over the deck, one had no plants left.
Any egg shells in my large tomato planter
had been dug out knocking green cherry tomatoes
over the edge.
Most surprising, a large chunk was bitten off
the cactus but not eaten!!!

Our Peach Tree Woes
This is just the third summer for the
peach tree; growing from 6 feet to way over 12 feet.
We used our old curling brooms, bungy cords, and branches from other trees for support.
Slim branches with an abundance of peaches
were easily broken in the windstorm. We were
too greedy so Mother Nature culled the tree.
Hopefully, it survives until next year!

Sunflowers
I have really enjoyed the sunflowers ALL seeded by the birds!!! One HUGE sunflower , growing under our peach tree, has flowers shooting out from the base and reaching for the sun with more flowers growing from each shoot!!
Under the Peach Tree in June.
The little finches are quite acrobatic and
often their weight makes the flowers fall over.
